BankWest launches Customer Enterprise

6 March 2007. China Systems, the global market’s leading trade solutions vendor, announced today the successful launch of its browser-based business-to-business solution Customer Enterprise to international trade customers of Bank of Western Australia (BankWest).

Customer Enterprise, which went live at BankWest in January this year, is a J2EE-based solution that allows bank customers to access services through Web server and browser technology. BankWest uses China Systems’ flagship product Eximbills as its back office trade finance system.

BankWest utilizes Customer Enterprise to offer a new service facility they call Online International Trade, which allows import and export business customers to perform trade-related transactions online.

With its rapidly growing International Trade division, ranking number 1 in Trade - Overall Satisfaction in East & Partners’ Australian SME Banking Markets Report for October 2006, BankWest seeks to further enhance its international trade products and services through this facility and speed up its push into the national business banking market.

According to Paul Clark, chief executive for BankWest Business, “In 2007, we intend to accelerate our growth and will invest in new systems and infrastructure that provide customers with better services consistent with our strong focus on personalised customer service and emphasis on building in-house industry specialisation. Online International Trade cuts across a number of key customer segments and the new system will allow us to build an enhanced offering across our customer base.”

Cited by BankWest as one of Customer Enterprise’s key benefits is straight through processing, allowing customers direct data entry into the online business environment, thereby reducing processing time and the possibility of data entry errors.

Carl Favaloro, national manager for International Trade Banking, considers their online international trade facility to be innovative and “amongst the best in the market.”

He said, “It is completely web-enabled, with no dial-up required, and fully integrated into OBB (BankWest’s Online Business Banking), conforming to the BankWest look and feel for a seamless customer experience. It is robust and very fast even over slower networks, and because it is integrated into OBB there is full security through our second factor authentication process.

“CFOs or authorisors can authorise their transactions at any time, anywhere and because it is also fully integrated into our back-office it uses real time processing.”
